National Anti-Boredom Month

Did you know that next month is National Anti-Boredom Month? Yes, there really is a month/week/day for everything, but this one is great news for parents! How often do you hear those dreaded words: ‘I’m bored’? Why not take this opportunity to organise an adventure-filled month? All it takes is a little planning and a spot of inspiration…and you get a week head-start!

Boredom

Enjoy the great outdoors

Why not head off on an adventure and plan a proper road trip complete with your favourite tunes and an obligatory game of eye-spy along the way. If that sounds too much like hard work, July also happens to be National Picnic month! Get involved by heading to your local park with a basket of your favourite treats. For a fuss-free addition to your feast, Grabits Original Chicken on a Stick are a great no-cutlery-required treat.

Make a ‘bored jar’

Sit down with the kids and get them to write activities on pieces of paper, like ‘prepare lunch for everyone, ‘Go on a bike ride’, ‘build a junk model’. Feel free to throw in some of your own – ‘tidy your room’ or ‘finish your homework’ perhaps? Put all the suggestions in a jar. Next time someone says they’re bored, have them close their eyes and pick something from the jar. The rule is, they HAVE TO do whatever they pick. You’ll be surprised how quickly you stop hearing those words, and you might end up with a tidier house too!

From the comfort of your own home

In the UK we can’t expect too many sunny days in a row, so having fun from your own sofa will be necessary at some point. Whether you settle down with your favourite film or start a binge-worthy series, there’s nothing wrong with crashing out in front of the TV for a bit. Stock up with movie snacks; something sweet plus Grabits Southern Fried Chicken Mini Bites for a savoury protein-hit.

Go tech-free

Prove to yourself and your children that technology isn’t the only boredom fix by unplugging or signing out more often this month. Abandon the tablets and phones and instead enjoy the simple things in life. Dig out old board-games or lose yourself in a good book, find joy in the outdoors and in time spent with others, organise a barbecue, anything other than wall-to-wall screen time this July!

Stay active

Exercise is a great way to beat boredom, but a monotonous workout routine can actually induce boredom too! Shake things up by signing up to an exercise class you’ve not tried before, hitting the gym with a friend or taking the dog on a hike. You could even relive your primary school glory days with a game of rounders in the back-garden with the kids. Don’t forget to re-fuel with a protein-packed snack from the Grabits range!

Grabits chicken sticks are the ultimate low-fat, naturally healthy hand-held snacking solution that are convenient to eat on-the-go – perfect for all your summer adventures.
